ABOUT US

Cambridgeshire NHW was formed in November 1998 as an Executive Group to promote good citizenship, greater public participation across the County in the prevention and solving of crime and to encourage improved communication between NHW Members and the Cambridgeshire Constabulary so that effective liaison between the police and the public could be enhanced.

The Constitution for the Group was updated in August 2011 (to view a copy of the Constitution go to next menu drop-down).     It established a formal structure for Cambridgeshire NHW and an executive group forum whereby representatives elected by the various NHW Associations and separate Village / Parish schemes in the Policing Sectors of Cambridgeshire may meet, discuss, agree and maintain an effective organisation structure to assist all Cambridgeshire communities in their efforts to improve their quality of life and to reduce their fear of crime in their local areas.

Many of the Group objectives are included in an agreed written working relationship (Service Level Agreement)  between the Executive Group and the Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

We maintain contact with some 2,000 NHW Coordinators registered with the Constabulary and through them with almost 45,000 NHW Members across the County.   This website is for your use and it aims to provide you with all the information you may need to do your work as a NHW Coordinator and as a NHW Member    –  be sure to let us know what you think about the web-site and any improvements or additional material that might assist you in your neighbourhood.

Our aim is to inform all Members about the central coordinating direction and best practice for the conduct of Neighbourhood Watch across Cambridgeshire as approved by the Executive Group.    We wish to show how NHW is structured and managed across the County and to inform how to contact your County NHW Rep and your Safer Neighbourhood Police Team.   We aim to provide relevant useful sources of NHW information including guidance for protecting you and your neighbours from crime and ASB incidents and how best to report these incidents to the Police in your area.

Executive Group Members    (See  Main Menu for list of Members) The Executive Group comprises 14  County NHW Representatives and a Police Representative as NHW Lead in the Constabulary.   The Group meets regularly to discuss, agree and to actively promote and support the general direction of NHW best practice across Cambridgeshire. There are at this time some vacancies for County NHW Representatives on the Executive Group.  If you would like to volunteer or recommend to us a possible candidate to fill one of these vacancies, please click on Contact Us in the Main Menu above and send us your message.
